Is 2020 the worst year ever?
Published Tuesday, July 21st 20202020 has been absolutely nuts. I think most of us, if not all of us can agree on that. From politics to COVID, life has been tough or worse for a lot of you reading this. Obviously, us in the travel community have been hit hard, not only personally, our entire industry is in constant doubt since all of this started back in late February.
The longer this goes on, the harder it is for me to have a positive outlook about when cruising/travel is going to come back. Right now, October 1 is the target date. I have a feeling this will not happen. The Bahamas just closed to tourists from the USA and that is a major cruise hub. I know the Caribbean is ready to welcome people back, but the CDC seems hell bent on keeping cruises anchored. I feel in this realm, the cruise lines as a whole and the travel industry has dropped that ball completely. There has been no leadership and they seem to afraid to come out and say "we are ready!" Sadly, I don't think the industry has the courage.
Honestly, the cruise lines have done an OK job of handling cancellations and refunds, even though it has been time consuming, and sometimes confusing, I have only had one major issue with cancel/refunds, the rest have been mostly smooth.
As your travel agent, I urge you to look at 2021 trips right now. 21 is crazy popular right now because of 20 being cancelled, it also gives you something to think about and look forward to. As your friend, stay safe and keep your head up. Its been a tough year. Feel free to leave a comment below and let me know if you need anything!
